Mozilla is hoping that developers will write applications based on open web technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS that will work across devices and platforms via the browser. Mozilla is providing APIs for developers to create such apps and is submitting the APIs to the W3C for standardization. Mozilla envisions a future where apps, content, and services are tied to a user, not the platform or device that they use. Mozilla hopes to launch the Mozilla Marketplace to consumers later this year with games, media, music, productivity, and other apps/content.
LG Takes Another Shot with the Optimus 3D MAX

LG today announced the Optimus 3D MAX, an apparent update to last-year's Optimus 3D. The 3D MAX features 2D and 3D image/video capture and playback with twin 5-megapixel main cameras and a 3D display. LG says it can convert Maps and other items into 3D for a more immersive experience. It also has a VGA user-facing camera for video chats. Other features include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch QVGA display with Gorilla Glass 2, 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM, support for HSPA+ at 21Mbps, and support for NFC and the new LG Tag+ system. It can connect to 3D monitors via an MHL port and supports DLNA for media sharing. The LG Optimus 3D MAX is launching first in Korea followed by other world markets later this year.

The video includes the tagline "Get Ready to Capture a Pure View" and shows a montage of images. At the same time, Reuters today reports that Nokia is prepared to also announce an inexpensive Windows Phone smartphone at its press conference scheduled for February 27. Reuters' sources say that the Lumia 610 will run Windows Phone, but can be sold at low pirce points. Reuters also notes that Nokia will announce a global variant of the Lumia 900, which is being released by AT&T later this year.
